My husband took me to Red Lobster for my birthday and I tried the "coconut shrimp bites" as part of their Endless Shrimp promotion.

I'd never had their coconut shrimp and the little bites were AMAZINGLY tasty ... but the one thing I didn't like was that they had a bit of an afterburn. After each one, I'd have to take a drink because it was so hot (hot as in spicy not hot as in "from the oven").

I've looked up recipes online and nobody mentions their coconut shrimp having a kick. What's up with that? Did my cook just throw something extra in ... or is this just normal?
