Ritz Bits Soccer Cheese

Ritz Bits Soccer CheeseThe newest entry to the Ritz Bits line of cracker sandwiches is this "Soccer Cheese"

The crackers have a soccer ball pattern molded on.

The box says that they're made with real cheese, but a quick glance at the ingredients found no "real cheese", only "Cheddar Cheese Powder". I dunno, if you threw down some cheese powder in front of a kid, I doubt he'd call it cheese.

Ritz Bits Soccer Cheese is also healthier than standard Ritz Bits, because the box says that they contain 5g of whole grain, and have 33 percent less fat.

Interestingly, it also says its the official cracker of Major League Soccer (MLS). I wonder if David Beckham has to eat these then?

The retail price is $3.00. Coming to a store near you.

Mountain Dew Game Fuel Beverage for Halo 3

Mountain Dew has introduced a new Game Fuel Beverage as tie-in with Halo 3. The soda is not just sneaking in as many limited editions do, there is a full, all-media campaign to promote it.

The commercials have been running for about four weeks to tie in with Microsoft's Xbox 360 exclusive title, Halo 3.

Mountain Dew's Limited Edition Game Fuel has 30% more caffeine and is a cherry/citrus blend. It's been spotted at 7-11 stores all over the country as well as major retailers. You'll find it in 20 fl. oz. plastic bottle, 2 liter bottle and 12-count, 12 fl. oz. metal cans through November.

Mountain Dew is a Pepsi Co. product.

Reviews for the new drink on the internet are mixed, but the high awareness of the product guarantees liberal sampling, at least some fervent fans and then the eventual backlash/petitions to bring the drink back.

Heart Chocolate with CM-X

Heart Chocolate with CM-XHeart Chocolate with CM-X is described as a rich chocolate that claims to lower your blood sugar and cholesterol.

CM-X is described as a concentrate of anti-oxidants found in cinnamon and bitter melon.

Here's what Heart Chocolate's website has to say about itself...

Made with the finest cocoa and prepared in 3 delicious portions of only 60 calories each - your craving for rich chocolate will be satisfied. Plus, you will get the added benefit of CM-X to lower blood sugar and cholesterol. Heart Chocolate with CM-X is the perfect choice for people with Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and related cardiovascular conditions or anyone looking for a healthy snack with no added sugar.

The "3 delicious portions of only 60 calories each" that the above quote is talking about is that each chocolate bar is sectioned off in 3 pieces, just like how a Twix is sectioned off into 3 strips. This is hardly an effective means of portion-control.

Heart Chocolate with CM-X was developed by Innovative Life Sciences Corporation, based out of Toronto, Ontario. They claim to be in the "development of nutraceutical products with distinct competitive advantages". I take it that "competitive advantages" means stuff like chocolate and candy.

You can buy Heart Chocolate online at its website...

Baskin-Robbins Lick-A-Thon

Baskin-Robbins Lick-a-thonThis Thursday, September 20 (tomorrow), participating Baskin-Robbins locations across the country will host in-store Lick-A-Thons to ring in the Fall season.

I wasn't sure what a "Lick-A-Thon" was, as this information came to me from Baskin-Robbins' marketing agency. So I did a Google search for "lick-a-thon" to see if they had held these events before.

Unfortunately, all I got was a bunch of porn sites.

So I called up their marketing agency and asked them.

The Lick-A-Thon is an effort to find America's fastest ice-cream licker. Participating Baskin-Robbins locations will host a Lick-A-Thon which involves licking up an Oreo Ice Cream cone the fastest. It sounds like the winning licker and his/her "lick time" will be added to a nationwide database to identify the quickest tongue in the land.

Unfortunately again, Baskin-Robbins made no effort to explain which locations are participating. According to their marketing agency, you have to look up various locations on the Baskin-Robbins website, and call them to see if they're running a Lick-A-Thon. Here's their store locator...

For those of you fortunate enough to find a participating store, make sure you read the "Lick Tips" from Baskin-Robbins executive-chef Stan Frankenthaler, on his Squidoo webpage...

If you happen to call a Baskin-Robbins store and they tell you, "Lick A What?", please post a comment below.

Dale Earnhardt Jr Launches "Big Mo'" Candy Bar

Eight-year NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver and former winner of the Daytona 500 introduced his new candy bar, Big Mo' to buyers and industry media today at the 2007 Candy Expo.

The name Big Mo' is a play off of Earnhardt Jr.'s hometown of Mooresville, N.C., and the longtime moniker used for he and his closest friends, the Dirty Mo' Posse.

The milk chocolate candy bar will come in two flavors, creamy caramel and peanut
butter. It is scheduled to hit stores nationwide in January 2008.

Dale Earnhardt Jr Big Mo Candy Bar
"At one point or another everyone has had their own idea of making the perfect candy bar, and this was my chance to do it," Earnhardt Jr. said. "It's really cool to have my name on a candy bar, and it's a pleasure to partner with R.M. Palmer Company in putting this product on the shelves. I think Big Mo' will be widely accepted, not just by racing fans but by everyone who enjoys a good candy bar."

Known for its seasonal novelty candies, R.M. Palmer Co. has been specializing in traditional holiday candies since 1948, but this is the first of its product line to be a milk chocolate everyday candy bar.

The making of the Big Mo' bar included numerous taste-tests by Earnhardt Jr., and its unique recipe and design was shaped to meet the NASCAR star's liking.

"Our relationship with Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a partnership I am proud of," said Richard Palmer Jr., president of R.M. Palmer Company. "We started this venture over 12 months ago and our goal was to create two milk chocolate bars that Dale Jr. and Palmer would be proud to call their own. I am confident that our goal has been achieved. Big Mo' bars have been well received by our customers and are sure to be a BIG success."

To coincide with the announcement of the Big Mo' bar, R.M. Palmer Company is launching the "Big Mo'ment with Dale Jr." sweepstakes. Thousands of winners will be awarded great prizes, but the grand prize winner will be treated to his or her Big Mo'ment, which will include lunch with Dale and his JR Motorsports race team, a limousine tour of area race shops, suite tickets to a VIP weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway, and $250 spending money.

Fans will be able to enter the sweepstakes by visiting the candy bar's website and typing in the entry code on the inside wrapper of the Big Mo' bar.

"This is a great idea by the folks at R.M. Palmer to really spike the interest in the Big Mo' bar, and give fans a chance to win great prizes," Earnhardt Jr. said. "The grand prize winner will be treated like royalty. It will be more than a big moment. It will be a big weekend they'll never forget."
