Reese's Whipps

Reese's, part of the Hershey's candy empire, is expanding further after the success of the Crispy Crunchy Bar introduction.

The new bar is called Reese's Whipps Candy Bar and will feature a light and fluffy peanut butter nougat. This nougat will give the Whipps Candy Bar a peanut butter taste but have 40% less fat. If the improved nutritional profile isn't a selling point for the 1.9 ounce bar, it will also be available in King Size.

According to JM Hirsch (AP), "The effect is a pleasing cross between a Milky Way and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups."

Reese's Whipps Candy Bar are slated to hit the shelves in the fourth quarter of 2007.

  • Sounds more like a mix of 3 musketeers and a reeses than of a milky way and a reeses...

  • I'm inclined to agree, Anon. Milky Way is known for both caramel & nougat.

  • I just tried one of these, and there is a layer of caramel like a Milky Way, so the original comparison stands. I couldn't really taste much of a peanut butter taste (slight one), so it was more Milky Way than Reese's cup to me. But overall very good, and given the 9g of fat - I'd recommend it.

  • Anon - I've had a few of them and there is absolutely no caramel in there. It's a peanut butter nougat, a peanut butter layer and then a chocolatey shell.

Even though it said 9 grams of fat, it's still 230 calories ... far more than a smaller portion candy like a KitKat.

  • When I first heard about these, I thought they would be like a blend of 3 Musketeers and Reese's Peanut Butter cups as well. Since I love nougat and I love peanut butter, I figured Reese's Whipps would be right up my alley. Unfortunately, after trying them I was pretty disappointed. The chocolate is nice, as is the thin layer of peanut butter, but the nougat isn't very good at all. It has almost no flavor and doesn't melt in your mouth like most nougats. Instead, it's more like a chewy version of chocolate tofu. I would recommend skipping this one.

  • I've had a couple now, and I think they are absolutely incredible! They are hands down, the best new chooclate bar to hit the market since the Hershey Sidekick (which has sadly just left us). Every bite is a stroll through heaven, with scrumptious fluffy peanut butter nougat and a perfect chocolate coating - a winning combination that will no doubt, go down in chocolate bar history.

  • Hmm...Yes, I just had one. A Peanut Butter lover I am. I was NOT pleased w/ this. The nougat looks fluffy, but tastes gritty...almost a tofu appearance, the peanut butter doesn't tastes like a normal Reeese's, and the chocolate was very WAXY! I'd rather just eat a 3 Muskateers and have a good experience! Waste of money!

  • I just recently visited Hershey's Chocolate World and tried one of these bars. Personally I loved it. It tastes like a good reese's but without the "i just ate 3 pounds of chocolate" feeling I get after eating reese's cups. Great candy bar!

  • Personally, I think this candy bar is horrible. OH MY STARS! For one, it didn't taste like Reese's cups p.b. but then it left me with a yucky taste in my mouth. I would settle for the extra calories and get something tasty!

  • I heard about this bar and decided to by one. I really think it tastes more like a mix of Three Musketeer's and Resse's. It is delicious.

  • They aren't bad but I'll stick to the Fastbreaks.

  • These new bars are great! Yes, they are a combo of 3 musketeers and a reeses... but the taste also remindes me a bit of the fast breaks... very good!

  • Maybe the reviewer was thinking British, in the UK a Milky Way bar is basically a Three Musketeers bar, no caramel. But I love it anyways, I'm eating one now. :)

  • I liked it, especially after it's been in the fridge overnight.

  • I thought it was OK, not great, not inedible. Nothing can match the original Reeses to me. :)

  • The filling is way too sweet and the consistency is not enough like the Three Musketeers that I thought it would be like. As long as I'm not saving any calories, I'll stick with the original.

  • I am impressed with everyone that tried this concoction. When I want candy, I want Reese's PB cups. I also LOVE Nutrageous bars when I am fortunate enough to come across one. I tried one and wished I had a PB cup or Nutrageous bar. The peanut butter noughat was to "marshmallowy" for my liking. No flavor!

  • I havent had the Reeses Whipps yet but Im just dying to try one. I think I wont brush my teeth after I eat it so I can savour the flavour at night in my dreams. Im gonna eat six of them on a sunny afternoon with the TV on with nothing but my undies and dirty chocolate stained wife-beater on.

  • Sounds as though you guys like all sorts of REESE'S products! How about sharing the wealth? REESE’S has built a sweet little place on the web and this is your invitation. I recommend checking it out. (www.reeses.com/devoted) Spread the word (but only to the truly Devoted) And remember, loyalty has its privileges.

  • Like any other regular guy, I love candy bars. So when I saw this new Reese's deal, I ate one. I immediately felt flush, as if I had a fever. Minutes later, my whole body was warm and my pulse was racing. After that I don't know what came over me, but before I knew it, I found myself on the roof of the Discount Tire store shouting at the top of my lungs, declaring my undying love for Hugh Jackman.
