Mrs. Freshley's Snack Away CakesIf a Twinkie happens to be your poison of choice, you might try comparing them to Mrs. Freshley's new Snack Away Cakes.

It's billed as a healthier alternative to the real mccoy, offering 140 calories per cake, as opposed to 150 calories. Not much of a change.

But it does claim to include no added sugar.

What's interesting is that the name, "Snack Away" seems to suggest that you can scarf down several of these with the comfort of knowing that you're eating something better. Better? You may as well eat a real Twinkie.

  • It's not all about the calories. The Snack Aways have 1.5 grams of fat compared to 7 or 8 for a regular Twinkie. And because it doesn't use hydrogenated shortening or the filling, there's zero trans fat.

  • Can anyone really fool themselves into thinking a twinkie is healthy, snackaway or otherwise?

It just is a bad idea.

  • Also, if you are on weight watchers it is only 2 points. If you have two of the weight watchers snack cakes it would be three points and this one "twinkie" is bigger than two WW snack cakes with 1 less point!! I love these!!

  • What, you can't make snacks healthy? Not only does it have less calories and much less fat, it also has dietary fiber. It's a great idea for those of us who want to eat healthier foods and still snack!

  • I absolutely love these cakes!

I had been searching around for better "snack cakes" because I don't like the fake, sugary, sometimes plastic sweets we always find, and I found these babies!

    They are great!

I have tried the Snack Away cupcakes but they are too rich for me. I like the light and airy snacks.

I gave the cupcakes to my non-healthy eating roommate and she loves them.

  • These cakes are wonderful!!! They fly off the shelves, and the tweenkies are great. These cakes help me to get all 30 grams of fiber in daily.

  • It's not just the calories- it's the fat and fiber that are more important. These seem to be a much better alternative and the fiber makes them more filling and satisfying. Plus they don't taste greasy, like Twinkies do.

  • I like that they have very little sugar and a lot of fiber while still tasting great (IMO). No matter what kind of diet you're on, they get boring and every diet should include some kind of healthy, TASTY snack. I just grabbed a couple boxes of Peanut Butter Bars and Chocolate Cupcakes at Wal Mart for $2 per box. What a deal!

  • I love these cakes. Is a good idea for Weight Watchers member, only 2 points value. The yogurt creme is delicious.
