Strawberries and Creme Frappuccino

by Kelli
12/30/2005 09:45:00 PM

It was only a matter of time before Starbucks began to bottle their "creme" frappuccinos just like they have with the traditional flavors for a number of years. The creme frappuccinos do not contain coffee - which may or may not be appealing.

The Strawberries and Creme Frappuccino that Starbucks is now bottling for your enjoyment at home used to only be offered seasonally at Starbucks locations.

I'm sure that other creme flavors will soon be available in bottles as well.

Who Says Wine In a Box Can't Be Cool?

by Kelli
12/30/2005 09:13:00 PM

Who says that wine in a box can't be cool? The new Trove Wine line from Canandaigua, NY-based Canandaigua Wine Co. is trying to dispell that myth with it's Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in 3 liter boxes.

Trove will sell for around $22.99 and should stand out on the shelf with its brightly colored graphics on all four sides of the box.

I don't know how it tastes, but it definitely looks cooler than other "wine in a box".

Cactus Mint Gum

Cactus Mint GumHere's an interesting new flavor from Wrigley, "Cactus Mint".

It's being distributed to masticators in Eastern Europe, where minty-fresh cactus is all the rage I suppose. Actually, isn't "cactus mint" an oxymoron? When you think of cactus, you think often think of "desert" and "dry" and "hot". The word "mint" seems opposite of all that.

Oh yeah, when I feel like cooling down next to a couple of snowy mountain peaks, a chunk of cactus is what I want to be chewing on.

Kabbalah Energy Drink

by Steve
12/16/2005 09:50:00 PM

Kabbalah Energy DrinkAvailable in the USA, Kabbalah Energy Drink is touted in literature as "a delicious citrus fusion which contains essential vitamins and amino acids that pick you up and keep you going."

It's a brand owned by Light Force Water Source, Inc., according to the product's website. However, there is a very interesting (and lengthy) report associating this product with the controversial Kabbalah Centre.

The drink's website claims it's infused with "Kabbalah Water", a product supposedly made by the Kabbalah Centre. Kabbalah Water is water as it originally was, back when God created the world, containing healing energies.

But just in case the healing energies don't work, they threw in some caffeine, taurine, and a bunch of B-vitamins, as back-up.

That's right, a corporate beverage manufacturer telling independent minded people what to drink. (I just love the irony!)

Independent Energy Drink derives its energy kick from a combination of taurine, caffeine, L-Tyrosine, Guarana, Ginko Biloba, and Ginseng Extract.

Labeled, "Defiant energy supplement," the regular and diet varieties are sold in single-serve cans, 6 packs, and 24-count packs, with a suggested retail price of $1.49, $8.49, and $31.99, respectively.

No Fear Super BarWhat happens when you take a Snickers candy bar and inject it with caffeine, taurine, and L-Argenine? You get a "No Fear Super Bar", that's what.

Carlsbad, California-based Next Proteins, the company that makes it, says it's the world's first caffeinated candy bar. Well, at least they're not trying to pass it off as an "energy bar" like most others do.

Pringles in a Bag

Pringles in a BagHere's a variety of Pringles potato crisps that comes in a bag.

It's from China.

I remember when Pringles first came out, back in the 1970's I think it was, and it attracted attention for the fact that it came in a can. The company ran a large media campaign that the can protected each "potato crisp" thus ensuring you get only whole pieces, and not broken ones.

I guess broken potato chips isn't a big deal in China.

Topps Baby Bottle Pop

by Steve
12/14/2005 11:11:00 PM

Topps Baby Bottle PopNew from Topps Co. Inc., is the Baby Bottle Pop.

It's shaped like a baby bottle, except the nipple is actually hard candy. Inside the bottle is powdered candy. Another variety contains "candy crunch", a tiny sized candy pebbles.

You first suck on the nipple and get it all wet. Then you dip it into the candy powder, and lick it all off. I guess being that today's kids are being "babied" by their parents, it's only fitting they get to act it out as well.
