Tofu May Cause Infertility

Tofu may cause infertilityGuys, if your girlfriend is trying to get you to try Tofu, here's an excuse to give her: it might make your gonads go kaput!
Dr. Lynn Fraser conducted tests and found that the chemical genistein, which is present in soya, tofu and legumes, can cause a man's sperm to "burn out" and lose fertility.
Of course the research is still in its early phases, nontheless, you may want to wait until they've totally scoped it out.

California wants Warning Labels on French Fries

french friesCalifornia State Attorney General, Bill Lockyer (D), asked for a court order requiring McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Frito Lay and other companies to warn consumers that their fries and chips may contain acrylamide, a chemical he feels causes cancer.

In a prepared statement, he said that he doesn't intend to stop people from eating fast food, he just wants to make sure we know it's not good for us...
"In taking this action, I am not telling people to stop eating potato chips or french fries. "I know from personal experience that, while these snacks may not be a necessary part of a healthy diet, they sure taste good."
Acrylamide is a chemical that naturally occurs in potatoes when deep fried in oil. Meanwhile, a spokesperson from Frito-Lay, Lynn Markley, said there is no scientific evidence that acrylamide causes cancer.

In 2002, the Cato Institute, published an article by Steven Milloy that pretty much debunked the myths of acrylamide. He noted that the scientists warning the public over acrylamide used test results from laboratory rats. The rats were given an extreme amount of dosage, and indeed, they ended up with cancer.

However, Milloy rightly pointed out that because humans are much larger than rats, a person would have to eat 182 pounds of french fries each day, to get the same results as the laboratory rats.

You're more likely to die of eating bacon & eggs for breakfast every morning, before you'd die from eating french fries.

7UP Getting Desperate

7UP Plus with Marcia Cross and Nicollette SheridanWhen the folks at Cadbury Schweppes launched their "7UP Plus" variety of soda, which simply adds fruit juice fortified with calcium, they hoped to cash in on the nutritional supplement craze.

But a year later, sales have sagged.

Now they're getting desperate.

Desperate Housewives that is.

Last Wednesday they hosted a premiere party to offer a sneak peek at their new 7UP Plus television commercial. The ad shows Marcia Cross and Nicollette Sheridan trying to "seven-up" each other at the grocery store by loading in mass quantities of 7UP Plus into their shopping carts. The spot ends with Cross topping off her cart with the 7UP Plus stock boy.

The 7UP line has pretty much become a forgotten name, ever since Pepsico dumped it in favor of the Sierra Mist brand.

Welcome to Junk Food Blog!

Eating a hot dogTired of eating soy-cheese? Wondering why you starve yourself all morning only to replenish yourself with carrot sticks? Then you need to bookmark Junk Food Blog!

Junk Food Blog reports on the newest junk food hitting the market, giving you plenty of options to satisfy your lust for fat, sugar, salt, and alcohol (you know, the stuff you really want).

We celebrate the stuff we Americans were meant to eat, the stuff we became famous for. If you're like any other red-blooded, blog-reading American, your desk is littered with soda cans and super-sized fast-food drinking cups, along with bottles of antacid and pain-killers.

Look, eating a strict diet of "whole natural foods" might let you live an extra 20 years, but that only means having to eat that crap for another 20 years. Don't punish yourself!

You know that guy Dr. Robert Atkins, the one who invented the Atkins Diet? He died at 72 years of age, no better than the average American! So WTF? You may as well enjoy life.

Bob's Big BoyDrop the turkey-breast sandwiches and tofu-berry shakes. Go get the Pringles, the Little Smokies, the Krispy-Kremes, the Ben & Jerry's! It's ok. Just tell yourself, it's ok. Bookmark Junk Food Blog, and do the American thing.
